MCC ready to provide COVID treatment for 250 patients

Myanmar Convention Centre (MCC) has the facilities made ready to provide treatment for 250 COVID-19 patients on Mindhamma Road in Mayangon Township, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports. In order to provide the cure for COVID-19 patients, MCC has already prepared the beds and supplies for the patients. The necessary medical team will also be assigned by the joint medical coordinating team of COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Further, the authorities have supplied necessary things after monitoring the COVID-19 vaccination of the educational staff at MCC. At present, two hospitals are also carrying out preparation measures to hospitalize the COVID-19 positive patients. These two hospitals are the People’s Hospital in Hlinethaya township and the People’s hospital in Shwepyitha township. Hlinethaya township hospital will be able to accommodate 100 patients and has made ready the essential things such as oxygen for 50 patients while Shwelinpan civil hospital will be able to accommodate 50 patients.

The authorities are also having the medical examinations conducted on all the visitors who will come from the stay home townships to the Yangon region to make sure whether they have COVID-19 or not. Currently, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has increased in Lashio. With the essential further control of spreading of COVID-19, the instructions, orders and notifications of the union level organizations and the relevant ministries released on 31 May 2021 was extended to 30 June 2021. So far, Myanmar has reported a total of 148,617 cases, with 3,265 deaths and 133,753 recoveries as of 22 June 2021.

  1. Myanmar has reported a rapid increase in cases of new COVID-19 variants since the end of May, with new confirmed cases every day. Disease prevention and containment measures, as well as treatment activities, have been accelerated. It is announced to the people living in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory and those who would come from the outside of the territory, trucks and buses, to cooperate as follows:
    (a) Teams of the Nay Pyi Taw Public Health Department, administration, and security forces do a medical check-up to the people who come from the outside of Nay Pyi Taw at Nay Pyi Taw airport, train station and the city checkpoints- Nyaung Lun checkpoint, No. (5) Junction checkpoint, Si Junction checkpoint and Pantin checkpoint, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports.
    (b) If necessary, they will be tested by RDT Test Kit, with the registration of their name, address, travel history and telephone numbers.
    (c) Those who come from stay-at-home townships will be under the 10-day quarantine at Nay Pyi Taw Municipal guest house (2), New AYA hotel and Zabuthiri hotel, and COVID-19 detection will be carried out with RDT test kits on the 3rd day and 7th day while under the quarantine.
    (d) People are educated to systematically wear face masks and stay 6 feet apart from each other.
    (e) When COVID-19 positive patients are found at checkpoints and facility quarantine centres, they will be taken to Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital (1,000 bedded) (serious cases), Nay Pyi Taw Public Hospital (300 bedded), Pubbathiri General Hospital (50 bedded) and Dekkhinathiri Township Hospital (50 bedded).
    (f) Those who have had contact with a COVID-19 positive patient will be taken to Zeyathiri Township Hospital (50 bedded) and Uttarathiri Township Hospital (50 bedded) to be quarantined.
    (g) Drivers who violate the rules will be taken action according to the existing law and freight vehicles, and passenger vehicles are prohibited from coming to Nay Pyi Taw again.
    (h) People living in and out of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory are ordered to follow the issued guidelines in order to cut the spread of the COVID-19 disease, and actions will be taken against those who do not under the Natural Disaster Management Law.
    (i) Therefore, public are urged to follow the guidelines and restrictions by considering the COVID-19 disease containment and control measure as a national issue from the date of this notification.

Press release on finding of variant COVID-19 viruses (15-6-2021)

While constantly monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Sports is especially performing the monitoring of variant COVID-19 viruses. On 3 June 2021, the Defence Services Medical Research Centre of the Ministry of Defence issued the laboratory results for 11 persons with variant COVID-19 — one in Kalay, three in Myeik, four in Mandalay, two in Tamu and one foreign returnee in Yangon.

Variant strains were found as two Alpha and five Delta on variants of concern and four Kappa on variants of interest. These viruses were found in India, the USA, France, Germany, Spain, Ireland and Switzerland. The World Health organization stated Alpha and Delta strains of the variant virus have high speed of further infection and reviewed that it will raise the number of patients to be charged at hospitals and the possibility of increasing the death rate due to severe virus.

Moreover, some vaccines will be weaker than the impact of the virus. As such, it is essential that people strictly abide by the notifications, directives, and work guidelines for prevention and control of COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports to ensure disinfection of the pandemic against themselves, their families and environs.

Announcement on Extension of the Precautionary Restriction Measures Relating to Control of the COVID-19 Pandemic until 30 June 2021

  1. With a view to further strengthening of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has issued the following announcements regarding temporary entry restrictions for visitors from all countries. All those restrictions were extended until 31 May 2021 by the Ministry’s announcement dated 30 April 2021.
    (a) Announcement dated 15 March 2020 regarding precautionary measures for all travellers visiting Myanmar;
    (b) Announcement dated 20 March 2020 regarding additional precautionary measures for travellers visiting Myanmar and temporary suspension of issuance of visa on arrival and e-visa;
    (c) Announcement dated 24 March 2020 regarding additional precautionary measures for travellers from all countries visiting Myanmar;
    (d) Announcement dated 28 March 2020 regarding temporary suspension of all types of visas (including social visit visas) and visa exemption services.
  2. In order to continue its effective response measures to protect the population of the country from the risks of importation and spread of the COVID-19, the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has decided to extend the afore-mentioned entry restriction measures until 30 June 2021.
  3. In case of urgent official missions or compelling reasons, foreign nationals, including diplomats and United Nations officials, who wish to travel to Myanmar by available relief or special flights, may contact the nearest Myanmar Mission for possible exception with regard to certain visa restrictions. However, all visitors must abide by existing directives issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports relating to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective period for temporary measures to prevent importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through air travel extended till 30 June 202

The effective period for the Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel issued on 29 March 2020 by the Ministry of Health and Sports was extended up to 31 May 2021, 23:59 hours of Myanmar Standard Time, in line with the approval of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.

As the infection of this disease remains increasing in most of the countries, and the current effective period will be further extended with the approval of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, until 30 June 2021, 23:59 hours of Myanmar Standard Time to prevent infection of COVID-19 to Myanmar through passengers of international airlines.

Republic of the Union of Myanmar Working Committee to address impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the Country’s Economy

  1. The Working Committee to address the impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the Country’s Economy disbursed loans from the COVID-19 Fund with 1 per cent interest rate per year to businesses which are hit by the COVID-19 on 9 April 2020, and the loans which were taken out earliest will turn a year soon and the time comes to be paid off to the committee.
  2. To help the domestic businesses continue to run with the smooth financial flow, the State Administration Council has instructed the committee to extend the end of the loans period to six months from the set date.
  3. Hence, it is hereby announced to those who took out the loans from the COVID-19 Fund that the end of the loans period has been extended to six months from the date for returning the loan.

COVID-19 vaccination works ongoing in Nay Pyi Taw

Vaccinations for the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing in Nay Pyi Taw and relevant states and regions according to the officials.
A total of 12,922 people from Kachin State, Kayin State, Mon State, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region and Nay Pyi Taw yesterday were injected the COVID-19 vaccination.

A total of 1.3 million doses of the vaccination out of 3.5 million have already reached in Nay Pyi Taw and different states and regions according to the authorities.

Healthcare workers, staff, religious persons including monks and nuns, and over 65-year-old persons have received the vaccination, said officials.

MoHS continues COVID-19 vaccination to ministry officials and civilians

Ministry of Health and Sports continued the COVID-19 vaccination to civil services personnel and people over the age of 65 in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon Region on 20 February, 2021.

The Department of Public Health in Nay Pyi Taw vaccinated a total of 907 officials from 10 ministries in Nay Pyi Taw and Union Minister for Health and Sports Professor Dr Thet Khine Win, Deputy Minister U Myo Hlaing, Directors-General and responsible persons encouraged and supervised the vaccination.

Similarly, a total of 112 monks was vaccinated in the Inya COVID-19 vaccination centre in Yangon in accordance with the COVID-19 immunization regulations. It is reported that the Ministry of Health and Sports will continue the vaccination to civil services personnel and the people over the age of 65.
