Covid-free certificate needed for inbound travellers from Ruili border

The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar announced that inbound people from the Ruili border do not need
to show a health code, but are required only to show Covid-19 negative test result certificate taken within 48 hours. The inbound truck drivers can enter the country by notifying the information about drivers and vehicles to the Customs Department in advance, according to the statement. China implements the level “B” management and control of the COVID-19 cases and there will no longer be Covid-19 rules and regulations for inbound people and goods, said the statement. The traffic crossing resumed at the Ruili crossing of the China-Myanmar border, the Hokho Nanxi River post of the China-Viet Nam border and the Mohan crossing of the China-Laos border on 8 January.

Covid restrictions to be eased for travellers to Myanmar via int’l flights

The rules and regulations for COVID-19 will be relaxed for travellers to Myanmar via international flights starting from 1 December, according to the Ministry of Health.
The local infection rate has declined and the positivity rate has reached below one per cent for 14 consecutive days, it is learnt.
Before, the travellers were required to show COVID-19 vaccination record cards as proof of being fully vaccinated or the RT-PCR negative test results within 48 hours. And then they would have to take the RDT test at the airport.
Now, the restrictions to take tests with RDT will be relaxed for travellers to Myanmar starting from the morning of 1 December, according to the announcement of the Health Ministry.
The details will be published in “Public Health Requirements for Travellers who Wish to Enter Myanmar through International Commercial Flights” on 1 December.
In addition, the public health requirements for travellers by relief flights and travellers via land borders will remain the same as the requirements were released on 8 October 2022, it is learnt.

Covid-19 loan repayment period extended for one more year

The working committee to address the impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on 4 November announced Notification 3/2022 on a one-year extension of the Covid loan repayment period from the second-year due date. According to the priority sector, 5,990 companies and enterprises were granted loans from K200 billion of COVID-19 funds for a total of K158.4438 billion with an interest rate of one per cent and a loan period of one year from 9 April 2020.

Loans flow to businesses such as CMP, hotels and tourism, small and medium-scale enterprises, agriculture, livestock breeding and marine production, export products manufacturing industries, import-substitute products manufacturing industries, businesses that participate in the supply chain from local production to the export sector, foodstuffs manufacturing businesses, overseas employment agencies and vocational training schools.

In the notice of the working committee for loans, it stated: “If it fails to repay, action will be taken under the law,” and so companies/industries that took loans from the Myanma Economic Bank fail to pay back the capital and interest, they will face legal action as per the terms and conditions of the loan contract and they must repay the outstanding loan completely within the period of extension.
