International flight restrictions extended until 31 December

The Ministry of Health has issued a directive on the temporary restriction of international commercial passenger flights to Myanmar since it is crucial to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Myanmar. With the permission of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), “Temporary Measures to Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel” was revised as “Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel Issue-2” on 31-12-2020 as of 23:59 hours of Myanmar Standard Time on 30 November 2021. Until now, the prevalence of the COVID-19 epidemic has risen in most parts of the world. With the permission of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the effective period of the above directive has been extended to 23:59 hours of Myanmar Standard Time on 31 December 2021 to further prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmission via international flight passengers into Myanmar.

THE Ministry of Health hereby announced the order by exercising the authority stipulated in Sub-Section (b) of
Section 21 of the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law.

  1. The Ministry of Health has taken preventive measures against Coronavirus Disease 2019
    (COVID-19) in real time. Therefore, the orders were issued for the people from some
    townships of Nay Pyi Taw, regions and states to stay at home in order to more effectively
    control the infection of the pandemic.
  2. However, as the people from these townships exactly abide by the disciplines of preventing
    the COVID-19, further finding of decreasing confirmed patients within 14 days, declining of
    group-wise

infection among the patients, the emphasis of the relevant governments, organizations and people in raising
health awareness during the stay-at-home periods, further finding of decreasing confirmed patients and contact
persons in laboratory tests within 14 days, and active participation of township administration bodies, health
staff, those from relevant departments and organizations and volunteers as well as the people in the prevention
and control of the pandemic were seen.

  1. Hence, the people residing in the following townships of the respective regions and states
    were removed from the list of the Stay-at-Home programmes as of 4 am on 25-11-2021:-

One million Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines in third batch donated by PRC arrives at Yangon Int’l Airport

The Ministry of Health vaccinates the people in regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area for prevention and control of COVID-19. So far, the ministry has purchased 31 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and accepted 9,168,800 doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by friendly countries, totalling 40.168,800 million doses of vaccines. The People’s Republic of China arranged to donate three million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines to Myanmar. Of them, one million doses of vaccine and syringes in the third batch arrived at the Yangon International Airport at 4.30 pm yesterday.

The donations were accepted by the head of Yangon Region Medical Services and Public Health Departments and party. As such, three million doses of Sinovac vaccine donated by the People’s Republic of China in three batches totally arrived yesterday. As part of preventing the COVID-19 infection, 15.3 million of the people in target groups of regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area have been injected till 20 November, 10.4 million of whom have been vaccinated two times and 4.9 million injected for the first time.

Hence, the vaccinations have been undertaken for 25.8 million times till 20 November. In this regard, the data was inserted into the vaccination management information system-VMI, and vaccinated IDs with QR Code were issued. The fully vaccinated persons can show the documents for recognition of vaccination in the smooth travelling at and abroad. The Ministry of Health requested the people to accept COVID-19 vaccinations without fail, take the second time vaccination on the scheduled or in the nearest set period at nearby vaccination centres and urge the family members and friends to take fully vaccinations without fail.

One million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrive at Yangon Int’l Airport

The Ministry of Health is targeting to control the COVID-19 disease and giving the COVID-19 vaccines to people in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, States and Regions according to priority groups. On 12 November, the People’s Republic of China donated another three million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Myanmar, and on the same day, the first batch of one million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine was received.

The second batch of one million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine and syringes arrived at Yangon International Airport at 4 pm yesterday and were received by a team led by head of the Yangon Region Medical Services and Public Health Department. The new vaccines will be given to students over 12 years of age and other designated groups, an official said. These vaccines will be delivered by cold chain system to different regions and states with the help of the Tatmadaw (Air) and Myanma Airways, officials continued. As of 19 November, a total of 15.2 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in regions and states to curb the disease.

About 10.3 million people have been received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 4.9 million have received the first doses. As of 19 November, a total of 25.5 million people have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar. The public should not miss a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those who have received the first dose of the vaccine should also be actively involved in the vaccination programme systematically to receive the remaining dose, officials said. The Ministry of Health has urged people to be jabbed if they have not yet received the full dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

Myanmar receives 1 million doses of Sinovac vaccine donated by China

The People’s Republic of China donated one million doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to Myanmar yesterday. The donation ceremony was held through videoconferencing and attended by Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai and officials.

The Union Minister expressed words of appreciation for the donation at the ceremony and it was concluded in the evening after discussions on issues such as cooperation for COVID-19 immunization, increased monitoring and deployment of health workers along the border, including in Shan State and Kachin State, to reopen the border trade posts and to ensure timely treatment, and implementation of the Myanmar Centre of Disease Control supported by China and the establishment of a training school for healthcare workers.

With the donated one million doses of the vaccine and another one million doses purchased from China, which both arrived yesterday, the vaccination against COVID-19 will be continued for the students over the age of 12 across Myanmar. These vaccines will be distributed to regions and states based on the requirement, via road transport or with the helpof the Tatmadaw (Air) and Myanmar airways by maintaining the cold chain.

As of 11 November 2021, 9.3 million people have been fully vaccinated while 5.1 million people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Myanmar, making the total dose 23.7 million. As a measure to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, The Ministry of Health is administering the COVID-19 vaccines to the target groups. The people are urged to receive the COVID-19 vaccines, and those who have already received the first dose are encouraged to go to the nearest immunization centre and receive the second dose on the scheduled immunization date or near the due date, as well as to actively participate in the vaccination activities.

Announcement of COVID-19 diagnostic programme for domestic passengers

The third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak has been brought under control due to the rapid pace of treatment, and the restrictions on disease control have been gradually eased. For the convenience of domestic passengers, RDT can be used to detect the presence of the COVID-19 virus within 48 hours prior to departure at the time of check-in:
(A) No more than 48 hours before departure, COVID-19 will be screened daily from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the offices of the relevant Township Public Health Department where the airport is located.
(B) In addition, laboratory tests can be performed at fixed rates at private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres permitted by the Ministry of Health in line with the procedures.

4 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine in sixth batch from China arrives in Yangon

OF 24 million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines purchased from the People’s Republic of China, the last 4 million doses arrived at the Yangon International Airport yesterday and were received by the team led by the head of Yangon Region Medical Services/ Public Health Departments. These vaccines will be distributed to regions and states based on the requirement, via road transport or with the help of the Tatmadaw (Air) and Myanmar airways by maintaining the cold chain.

With the newly arrived COVID-19 vaccines and the existing ones, about 50 per cent of the target groups will be fully vaccinated twice by December 2021, and it is also reported that arrangements are being made to get more vaccines available to the remaining population. As of 6 November 2021, 8.24 million people have been fully vaccinated while 5.65 million people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in respective regions and states in Myanmar, making the total dose 22.15 million.

As a measure to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health is administering the COVID-19 vaccines to the target groups. The people are urged to receive the COVID-19 vaccines, and those who have already received the first dose are encouraged to go to the nearest immunization centres and received the second dose on the scheduled immunization date or near the due date, as well as to actively participate in the vaccination activities.

As of 2 November, 7.39 million people have received two full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine

As of November 2, 7.39 million people have received two full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health. As of November 2, 7399,986 people (7.39 million) had received two full doses of the vaccine; 6084977 people (6.08 million) completed one planting; According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 13484963 people (13.48 million) have been vaccinated and more than 20 million have been vaccinated.

As of October 23, two million COVISHIELDs purchased by the Ministry of Health have been delivered. Sinopharm 20 million; Two million Sinovac has already reached a total of 24 million. Announcement on Extension of the Precautionary Restriction Measures Relating to Control of the COVID-19 Pandemic until 30 November 2021

  1. With a view to the further strengthening of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has issued the following announcements regarding temporary entry restrictions for visitors from all countries. All those restrictions were extended until 31 October 2021 by the Ministry’s announcement dated 1 October 2021.
    (a) Announcement dated 15 March 2020 regarding precautionary measures for all travellers visiting Myanmar;
    (b) Announcement dated 20 March 2020 regarding additional precautionary measures for travellers visiting Myanmar and temporary suspension of issuance of visa on Arrival and e-visa;
    (c) Announcement dated 24 March 2020 regarding additional precautionary measures for travellers from all countries visiting Myanmar;
    (d) Announcement dated 28 March 2020 regarding temporary suspension of all types of visas (including social visit visas) and visa exemption services.
  2. In order to continue its effective response measures to protect the population of the country from the risks of importation and spread of the COVID-19, the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has decided to extend the afore-mentioned entry restriction measures until 30 November 2021.
  3. In case of urgent official missions or compelling reasons, foreign nationals, including diplomats and United Nations officials, who wish to travel to Myanmar by available relief or special flights, may contact the nearest Myanma Mission for possible exception with regard to certain visa restrictions. However, all visitors must abide by existing directives issued by the Ministry of Health relating to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
